At an early age, Amanda Spiers realized that God had blessed her with special gifts and talents. She began drawing around the age of five and won her first art competition in the second grade, where her work was featured in the Oak Grove Lower Elementary annual. While a student at Oak Grove High School, she won several local, state and national awards, including best of show for the Mississippi Congressional Art Competition. This piece was later displayed in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. Amanda sold her first painting to the staff of Congressman Gene Taylor, which now hangs in the Mississippi State Capitol. Her preferred media are oils, watercolors and acrylics. Amanda also employs the use of photography, pottery, stained glass and decoupage, among others. Many of her works have been commissioned across the state. Amanda believes that art is a gift to be shared with others and often donates her work to various charities. She admires the nautical artwork of Jesus Christ and is inspired daily by his works of art.
Amanda received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated Beta Gamma Sigma in 2006. She received her brokerage license from the Mississippi Real Estate Commission in 2009. Amanda currently works as chief administrator for Dawn Properties, Inc., a locally based residential acquisition company. She is a Hattiesburg native and currently resides there with her beloved dog Lilly.
